“Born in the Motherland. Proudly raised in Hackney. Quintessentially British”. This oxymoron provides the background, template and palate that has defined and shaped Uncle G’s African Caribbean Cuisine, AKA Uncle G’s Jerk Station.
First generation of Ghanian parents and raised in Hackney, East London in 70’s/ 80’s Britain, this colourful tapestry of experience has moulded the taste bud of Uncle G. Fusing together the rich, fresh, earthly ingredients of Ghanian cuisine with Caribbean influence with a gentle nod to British palate.
The Jerk Chicken is given a little bit more ‘kick’ of African spices; the humble fish is clothed in an additional layer of spicy tomato gravy; the convenient noodle is dressed in a sweet tangy bath of stew and vegetables and the hunger pacifying humble chips is overdosed in Ghanian tomato stew, jerk gravy and ‘slices & splices’ of jerk chicken all adorned with jollof and rice ‘n’ peas.
